Security Meets Usability

Axis OS is the Linux-based operating system powering millions of devices worldwide—from network cameras and radars to access control units.

The security industry demands rigorous stability and cybersecurity. My goal was to introduce modern, user-friendly controls for cutting-edge camera technologies without disrupting the reliability professional users expect from a system with a long product lifecycle.

Designing for Axis Devices

I worked on the Axis Device Assistant (ADA) and the core OS interface. This involved designing installation and maintenance flows for complex hardware, such as multi-directional cameras and thermal networks.

Collaborative Scoping

I was embedded in a core team with Architects and QAs to align on technical feasibility weekly.

Hypothesis Testing

Validated designs with internal dev teams and end-users to ensure robust implementation.

Feature Demos

Presented and demoed new features to stakeholders to secure buy-in before development.

Example: Toaster components that i designed for Praxis

Praxis Design System

As the responsible UX Designer for Praxis, I governed the React-based component library used across the entire Axis web software ecosystem.

Weekly Governance

Established and led weekly syncs with other designers to evaluate component requests and ensure consistency.

Scalable Components

Designed critical UI elements like "Toasters" and "Framed Dropdowns" that met the diverse needs of 200+ unique products.

Shared Language

Created a unified design language that improved development efficiency across multiple distributed teams.

Unified Experience

Bridged the gap between specific hardware feature design and the overarching design system, ensuring a consistent user experience across the entire product portfolio.

Viable Innovation

Delivered design solutions that were not only user-friendly but also viable for an OS that prioritizes cybersecurity, rigorous stability, and long-term maintenance.
